Summary / Primary Role


While maintaining constant communication with facility personnel including Warehouse Supervisor, Shipping/Receiving office, Forklift drivers, laborers and Terminal Manager, the Quality Control Technician will ensure metal product in the shipping and receiving process  maintains quality and reliability standards and meets customer expectations.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the movement of trucks delivering and/or picking up materials throughout the
      warehouse facility.
  • Process all paperwork including shipping and receiving records, container size, LRP numbers, warehouse shipping, and daily inventory log.
  • Instruct forklift operator of actions to be taken with all incoming loads/material.
  • Assist in verifying that material is correct and set up in a safe configuration for shipping.
  • Inspect all incoming material against proper paperwork to ensure correct destination, quantity, and product.
  • Inspect all incoming material for damages to packaging or product utilizing the 13 point CMI receiving report.
  • Receive report process and make possible repairs according to procedure, take pictures for documentation, present and discuss all incoming damages with delivery driver, record and report all damaged material internally as well as the shipper/consignee to determine course of action.
  • Tally weight of all LTL loads to ensure that combined materials do not exceed the proper shipping weight restrictions and decide what materials should be removed if overweight.
  • Determine container size and proper LRP to be used on all loads prior to being shipped.
  • Communicate any incidents, accidents, damages, claims to management immediately.
  • Ensure proper safety attire is worn at all times including steel toed boots, safety vests, gloves, long sleeved shirts and full length cotton pants, safety glasses, and any other safety attire that is assigned by the supervisor.
  • Use company guidelines, instructions, policies, procedures, and follow OSHA regulations in the performance of all job functions.
  • Keep warehouse facility clean and safe at all times.

Job Specifications:

Work Environment:

This position is primarily located in a warehouse environment, with some time spent outdoors and exposure to varying temperature and weather conditions, fluctuating noise levels, odors, fumes,
vapor, risk of fire, explosion, and electrical shock.  This role routinely uses forklifts, along with standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, fax machines and file cabinets.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate with others via and phone. The employee must frequently use hands and fingers to use calculators, write letters, sign documents and pick up files in the course of work.  The employee is frequently
required to sit, stand, walk and lift for long periods of time throughout the day.   Must have ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.  Must
 have ability for sight, depth and peripheral vision, color distinction, oral communication, have finger dexterity, hand and arm mobility, be able to drive, sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, balance, reach, push and pull, and lift over 50 lbs. on occasion.
